After the closure of Saint Joseph’s Episcopal School (SJES) in July 2023, discussions ensued between SJES’s Board of Trustees and Gulf Stream School’s (GSS) Board of Trustees, aimed at identifying a way to perpetuate the mission of SJES’s Early Childhood Academy. GSS closed on the purchase of the ECA assuming full operational responsibilities and maintaining the ECA’s tuition rates, enrollment procedures, calendar, drop-off and pick-up times, after-school program, and employment terms. For the duration of the 2023-24 school year, the ECA will operate as usual.

Three half days or two full days are required.

A one-time application fee of $150 and a one-time enrollment fee of $400 are required for new students. Families are billed monthly based on their selected schedule.
Philosophy
Gulf Stream School’s Pre-primary philosophy is rooted in teaching the whole-child. We define whole-child education as a method for stimulating a child’s academic, social, physical, and emotional growth. Our play-based, child-centered program reflects the integration of physical, cognitive, social, emotional, independent, and linguistic development of the child. Purposeful play encourages curiosity, discovery, and problem solving which allows individual growth and development of a positive self-image. Our play-based program provides the children longer periods of uninterrupted play that focus on process rather than product.
Program
We strive to create an engaging and enriching environment to promote growth and development. Each morning, as our little ones arrive, they will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of jobs. This helps our students develop a sense of responsibility and teamwork. Students will have choice time, where they can explore various activities such as block building, dramatic play, art lessons, book exploration, as well as music and movement. This fosters and reinforces creativity and imagination.
Throughout the day, we ensure there is a balance of academic structure. We have dedicated time for circle lessons, small group activities, and one-to-one instruction. During these sessions, we will focus on strategies and activities to help your child master beginning letter formation and number fluency. Our goal is to provide our students with a strong foundation for their future academic success. Of course, we understand the importance of nourishment and outdoor play. Therefore, there will be designated time for snack and lunch, ensuring your child’s energy levels are maintained. Additionally, we are excited to inform you about the installation of a new playground happening in the summer of 2024. Your children will have plenty of outdoor time to explore, play, and have fun. Gulf Stream School and the ECA, 2024-25
Throughout the 2023-24 school year and over the summer of 2024, Gulf Stream School and the ECA will transition away from a daycare center toward the model of an academic preschool, in keeping with the program and philosophy of the early childhood programs on the Gulf Stream School, 3600 Gulf Stream Road, campus. The ECA will be known as Gulf Stream School Delray Beach Campus, and will offer enrollment to one-year olds, two-year olds, and three-year olds, for 2024-25. Both Gulf Stream School and Gulf Stream School Delray Beach Campus will operate on the same calendar adhering to all school vacation periods.
